Zirconium oxide ceramic (fused corundum)
Fused corundum (zirconium oxide ceramic) is a material of the so-called mixed ceramics and is created by combining different oxides. Aluminum, zirconium and silicon oxides are melted in an electric arc furnace at around 2.000 °C. Due to its composition of approx. 50% corundum, approx. 32% zirconium oxide, a glass phase proportion of approx. 18% and the way it is manufactured, zirconium oxide ceramic is often referred to as "fused corundum".
Areas of application
- Protection against abrasive and impact wear with heavy wear stress,
- Suitable for any material to be conveyed
- At an operating temperature of up to 1.000 °C
- E.g.: cyclones, pipelines, containers, apparatus
Forms of delivery
- Standard plates square/rectangular with edge lengths 150 – 500 mm
- Wall thicknesses 20 to 100 mm
- In straight pipes and elbow segments, wall thicknesses 17 – 25 mm
